Lock up food tight
Some of us, many of us, store some edible items outdoors like seeds and possibly food bought in bulk. Keep in mind that animals are very skilled at biting and tearing through packaging and sometimes even storage containers. Besides the fact that it is a nuissance to clean up the mess they leave behind; it hurts wildlife when we become a food source to them. Animals that become too dependent on humans for food, lose their survival skills (hunting/foraging/scavenging) which may result not only in their own death, but may prevent them from attracting a mate, thus reducing the diversity of the next generation. Also, our food is intended for humans and often not nutritious for animals.
